This month’s focus addresses facts and legends about African American history to honor Black History Month.

I grew up in the south during the 1960s and experienced firsthand many forms of racism. Although my parents tried hard to shield me from the harsh circumstances of racism, it happened. Many forms of racism that impacted African Americans during that period included segregation and inequities in wealth, health care, and education. What changes do you think have occurred sixty-three years later, in 2023?

With that said, this month, I will explore the following six topics.
